Classroom Discussion 1

       The first week of the Curriculum and Learning Management in English class was nice. I was a little bit late, because misunderstanding about the classroom. When I got into the class, teacher was introducing the lesson about the subject to us and  everyone was paying attention and listening to him carefully. What he described something was new that I had just know and something was what I had already learnt. While I was listening to the teacher, my hand also was working by lecturing the knowledge that I had to learn all the time.Then, it was like a reviewing what I have to learn and have to prepare myself for the lesson. Moreover, teacher described and let students discussion, suggested how to learn and and survive from this course, and classified each issue.

       From classroom learning, teacher described about educational terms what were they exactly meant, for example 'Language Learning = conscious, Language Acquisition = unconscious'and so on. Besides, teacher introduced students the level of learning. They were consisted of surface learning, deep learning, and achieve learning. Next, teacher suggested how to learn and do the task effectively. The tasks consisted of lesson summarizing 1 writing per week and reading log on blogger. These had to present in academic writing which consisted of introduction, body and conclusion. Afterwards, teacher taught us what is the goal in teaching and learning English. There were four skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing. Moreover, there were four macro skills of communicative competences (CLT) ; grammatical competences, sociolinguistic competences, discourse competences, and strategic competences. The important things in teaching English are English for communication, culture, content or connection, and community.  These are what teacher in 21st century should emphasize on.

      According to the National Core Curriculum, English Learning consists of four contents. There are English for communication, English for culture, English for content or connection, content for community. The standards of English for communication can be divided into three standards; to be able to understand and interpret what they have learnt and able to express point of view reasonably, to be able to communicate, exchange the news and express personal point of view effectively, and to be able to present the news, concept and express point of view with speaking and writing. The standards of English for culture can be divided into two standards; to be able to understand the relationship between language and culture of native speakers and able to use the language appropriately, to be able to understand the similarities and the differences between language and culture of the native speaker and able to use the language appropriately. The standard of English for connection or content is able to use foreign language to integrate the knowledge with the other content. Lastly, the standards of community can be divided in to two standards; to be able to apply foreign language in any community situations.
       
           In conclusion, for the first time classroom learning style was teacher to students learning. teacher talked and students listened and lectured. The main topic of classroom learning was about the National Core Curriculum which was indicated learning and teaching ways. These are the important things in learning and teaching that teacher need to know. Lastly, I strongly believe that teaching foreign language by using communicative competences and 4Cs to integrate and apply in different text situation can be develop learners' language learning effectively.
